Living Temple of God

1 Corinthians 3:16  Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?  17  If anyone defiles the temple of God, God shall destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which you are.

1 Corinthians 6:19  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own,

2 Corinthians 6:16  And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

We are the temple of God, [a spiritual house] and it is our responsibility to offer spiritual sacrifices to God through Jesus Christ!

1 Peter 2:4-10  For having been drawn to Him, a living Stone, indeed rejected by men, but elect, precious with God;  5  you also

  • as living stones

  • are built up a spiritual house,

  • a holy priesthood,

  • to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ

6  Therefore also it is contained in the Scripture: "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner Stone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him shall never be ashamed."  7  Therefore to you who believe is the honor. But to those who are disobedient, He is the Stone which the builders rejected; this One came to be the Head of the corner,  8  and a Stone-of-stumbling and a Rock-of-offense to those disobeying, who stumble at the Word, to which they also were appointed.  9  But you are

  • a chosen generation,

  • a royal priesthood,

  • a holy nation,

  • a people for possession,

so that you might speak of the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;  10  you who then were not a people, but now the people of God, those not pitied then, but now pitied.

The Church

Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the body. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.

The Path to Godliness Leads through the Valley of Suffering

1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13  but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

The Church

Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.

Rejoice in the midst of Sufferings

1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13  but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 1:6-7 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith--more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The Body

Romans 12:4-5 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
