3 Persons and 1 in Essence
God has
invited us into His Community
-- 1 John
1:1-7
Eternal God
– v. 1
That which was from the beginning, . . . .
·
Jn. 1:1-5 In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing
was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life
was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the
darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Incarnate
Christ
- . . . .which
we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we
have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the
Word of life -- 2 the life was manifested, and we have
seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal
life which was with the Father and was manifested to us
·
Jn. 17:3 "And
this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true
God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Purpose of
Christ Coming
-- 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you,
that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly
our fellowship [is] with the Father and
with His Son Jesus Christ.
The God
shaped void is filled
- 4 And
these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
God
provided a sinless, perfect sacrifice
- 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and
declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness
at all.
Sin
separated us from this Community
- 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him,
and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
Community
with God results in Community with God's Children
- 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we
have fellowship with one another, and the blood of
Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
·
Eph. 1:7 In
Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of
sins, according to the riches of His grace
What Must You
Do?
-- Acts 16:30-31 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs,
what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on
the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your
household.”
Results of being in God's Community --
1 Cor. 1:9-10
God [is] faithful, by whom you were
called into the fellowship of His
Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
10. Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ, that you
all speak the same thing,
and [that] there be no
divisions among you,
but [that] you be
perfectly joined together
in the same mind
and in the same judgment.
