There
are three major passages which deal with the battle between the
believer and Satan's forces. These passages describe both the
battle and the biblical response of a believer to the attacks of
the evil one.
James
4:6-10 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: 1
"God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." 7
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from
you.8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse
your hands, you sinners; and purify your
hearts, you double-minded.9 Lament and mourn and weep!
Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to
gloom.10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will
lift you up.
Ephesians 6:10-20 Finally, my brethren, be strong in
the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole
armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of
the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but
against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places.13 Therefore take up
the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore,
having girded your waist with truth, having put on the
breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with
the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the
shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked one.17 And take the helmet of
salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of
God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and
supplication for all the saints—19 and for me, that utterance
may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make
known the mystery of the gospel,20 for which I am an ambassador
in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
1 Peter 5:5-11 Likewise
you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders.
Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be
clothed with humility, for 1 "God resists the proud, But gives
grace to the humble." 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the
mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting
all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 8 Be sober, be
vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a
roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him,
steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are
experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God
of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ
Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish,
strengthen, and settle you.11 To Him be the glory
and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not
war according to the flesh. 4 For the
weapons of our warfare are
not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down
strongholds, 5 Casting down arguments and every high thing that
exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every
thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6
and being ready to punish all disobedience
when your obedience is fulfilled. |
