The Question – Should Believers continue in sin? Romans 6:1-23 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
Believers are seated in Christ in the Heavenlies Ø Died in Christ - 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Ø Buried in Christ - 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, Ø Raised in Christ - just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, Ø Walk in newness of life in Christ - even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Died and raised in Christ - 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,
The Old Man – Who we were in Adam Ø 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, Ø that the body of sin might be done away with, Ø that we should no longer be slaves of sin. Ø 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
Christ is the Model of our life and walk 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
Commands Ø 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ø 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. Ø 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, Ø but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Eph. 2:4-10 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. God has given us an abundant Christian Life in Christ, CHOOSE TO LIVE IT! |
